We thought we would update everyone on what is happening here at Swish Sheps Kennel and what our plans are for the future.
Our girl Luna (Of Trebons Berger Blanc Pantora) is now 5 years old and we have decided to spay/retire her, she will likely be spayed next month and can then live out her days with us as a very well loved pet.
Luna’s daughter Gemmi (Swish Sheps Daubensee) is only just coming up to 18 months of age in April ‘25 and so won’t be spayed until she’s a minimum of 2 years old, more likely 2.5-3 years of age. She hasn’t had her first heat cycle yet and so we have to wait for her to finally mature!
Belka (Swish Sheps Belka) turned 2 years old this January and has just had her one and only litter, we will, like Gemmi, spay her once she is around 2.5-3 years of age and has fully recovered and got back to tip-top condition after the birth of her 7 pups.
Bear will continue to be available at stud, with Dunkel our latest addition hopefully following in his footsteps and then finally, as already mentioned, Blondi won’t be bred from and will be spayed when old enough.
So the future for our kennel will mainly involve the retirement of our females, promotion of our stud dogs and announcement of their litters as well as the continued development and promotion of KB Shepherds International as an alternative for German (and Swiss) Shepherd breeders to register their dogs within an open stud book, promoting genetic diversity and a healthy future for our breed.
Once the final two puppies from our current litter have flown the nest (Cocoa and Pepper) we can then begin our relaunch and can focus on all of these exciting projects to come!
Do continue to follow us here and on our social media pages, although we have retired from breeding and won’t be having any more Swish Sheps litters, we will still be involved with litters via our stud dog males and still very much involved in the dog world via KBSI.
We will have more time and energy for other things when not caring for pregnant dams and litters of puppies! They’re hard work but we’re so grateful and proud to have experienced and produced everything we have.
